• Addressing racial undertones in the language of pharmacy

  Community pharmacist, Chair of the PDA’s Southeast Regional Committee, and co-opted member of the PDA BAME Network, Nav Bhogal addresses the racial undertones in the language used in pharmacy. Nav also provides information on the negative undertones and suggests alternatives in a call for change.

• Agreement reached between Boots and the PDA Union in settlement of the 2024 pay talks for Pharmacists

  Following productive discussions between Boots and the PDA Union negotiating teams, both parties are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached in relation to this year’s pay claim, effective from 1 November 2024.  

• PDA highlights proposed changes to the GPhC’s online prescribing guidance currently under consultation

  For years the PDA has expressed concerns and outlined risks associated with online prescribing. This includes concerns about questionnaire-based consultations and the need for a patient’s GP to be informed of any medication prescribed to ensure patient safety. 

• PDA encourages pharmacists to take part in ACTNow campaign

  This month the PDA’s charity partner, Pharmacist Support is launching its pharmacist ACTNow wellbeing campaign. Taking place from Friday 18 October to Friday 8 November, the campaign aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of those working in pharmacy. 

• Trade Union recognition for Superdrug pharmacists

  In response to requests from PDA members employed by Superdrug, the PDA has begun the process of securing trade union recognition for pharmacists working for the company.
