Join the PDA Union and make a real impact on the future of the pharmacist profession.
The PDA Union is the only UK trade union exclusively for pharmacists; we enable employed and locum pharmacists to have a collective voice in their workplace, their profession and sector. We have grown to over 40,000 members in just over 18 years of existence and we continue to develop the breadth and depth of what we do.
It’s an exciting and professionally rewarding place to work, and although more than half the UK profession is already in membership, our intention is to recruit many more and to build the number of recognition agreements we have with their employers.
This growth means that we are seeking a National Officer to join our existing team in supporting members across the NHS and at other employers where pharmacy is practiced, to help them act collectively as both employees and as health professionals. This role will mainly be home-based but with some travel, and we are open to considering applicants wanting to work between four days per week and full-time.
If you have the proven experience and capacity to be able to successfully represent and work with members of our profession, to improve equality, health & safety, pay and other working conditions and you want to be part of the exciting journey we have ahead of us, then we want to hear from you.
In this role, you will:
- Undertake trade union negotiation, policy development and representation activities
- Contribute to and help deliver the PDA organising and recognition strategies
- Make the most of every opportunity to recruit, engage, develop, mentor, support and retain members and reps, so that they may increasingly do #1 above for themselves.
What you’ll bring:
- Effective communication & presentation skills
- Understanding of employment rights, representation and negotiation skills
- Experience of being a registered health professional would be an advantage; experience of being a pharmacist would be ideal.
Why the PDA?
- Flexible working arrangements
- 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)
- PDA Plus and BHSF healthcare benefits
- A mission-driven, collaborative team environment.
Be part of an organisation that not only supports pharmacists when things go wrong – but helps them thrive in their careers.
