PDA Union issue qualified welcome to NHS pay rise

The PDA Union has made a qualified welcome to the government’s 6% pay increase for NHS employees over the next 3 years, saying it is a start but much more is needed to repair the decline in pharmacists’ real terms pay and the working environment.

2,780 Boots Pharmacists can make change happen

The PDA Union have announced that they will need at least 2,780 votes in favour of terminating an agreement that prevents Boots employees from securing an independent voice at work. Then, the PDA Union can apply for recognition as the independent trade union working on behalf of Boots pharmacists.

PDA donate £7,000 to Pharmacist Support

In late 2017, the Pharmacist Defence Association (PDA) announced a huge increase in their support for the charity Pharmacist Support. From 2018, the PDA are donating £1 for each of their members to the charity each year. In addition, PDA are introducing the ability for pharmacists to donate additional funds to the charity when they renew their PDA annual membership.

The PDA Union challenges Boots’ senior managers to do the right thing

After winning the legal argument in court over who qualifies to vote in the forthcoming ballot, the PDA Union have challenged senior managers at Boots to voluntarily listen to their employees who have asked for an independent trade union to obtain formal recognition at the company.

Rebalancing Medicines Legislation and Pharmacy Regulation Programme’s Partners Forum

A meeting of the Rebalancing Medicines Legislation and Pharmacy Regulation Programme’s Partners Forum was finally held on Thursday 22 February 2018. The PDA (Pharmacists’ Defence Association) had 3 representatives present out of a total attendance of 55 people, including the Chair and other representatives of the Department of Health and Social Care.

Response to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Consultation on the Statement of the Role of the Pharmacist

Boots lose legal argument – Pharmacists proceed to secret ballot

In the ongoing fight for pharmacists to secure an independent voice at work, Boots have failed to convince the courts to include senior management in the forthcoming ballot of pharmacists at the company. The next step should be the ballot itself.
