The PDA Union have recently seen the judgement of a Scottish Employment Tribunal where a trainee pharmacy technician at Boots was constructively dismissed after being given a final written warning. This was despite DISPROVING an allegation made in a customer complaint that she had breached confidentiality.

In June 2018, The Pharmaceutical Journal celebrated 70 years of the NHS with a timeline that plotted pharmacy’s history against the years since the NHS was born. I was disappointed to see that as early as 1981, community pharmacy was already being viewed as a problem child. And in 2016, despite talk over the years of community pharmacy’s importance, significant cuts were made to its funding.

Date set for historic second ballot at Boots

The PDA Union have negotiated the arrangements for a ballot of pharmacists and pre-registration pharmacists which can finally secure them an independent voice at work. The ballot period will run for five weeks from Monday 4 February 2019

PSNI consultation on indicative sanctions guidance

The PDA responded to the PSNI (Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland)’s consultation on new Indicative Sanctions Guidance for its Statutory Committee. The Statutory Committee considers and adjudicates on serious Fitness to Practise allegations made against pharmacists in Northern Ireland.
